The accuracy of ultrasonic flow meters is influenced by changes in liquid temperature and sound speed. Variations in liquid temperature lead to changes in sound speed, thereby affecting the accuracy of flow calculations. The composition ratios of chemicals, pressure changes, and the production of reaction products can all impact the sound speed of liquids. This article compiles sound speed data for various liquids, offering a reference for users of ultrasonic flow meters to enhance the precision of flow data.

1. Fluids exhibit different sound speeds at various temperatures

Ultrasonic flow meters primarily calculate flow based on the sound speed of the liquid being measured. However, liquid sound speed is influenced by two common factors: temperature and chemical concentration.

Beyond factors such as external diameter, wall thickness, and probe installation method, the state of the fluid greatly affects the measurement accuracy of ultrasonic flow meters. The sound speed of a fluid varies at different temperatures, and this speed influences the flow calculation of ultrasonic flow meters.

If the manufacturing process of solid materials is stable and reliable, we consider it homogeneous. Environmental considerations include temperature, pressure, etc., but in general, we mainly observe the relationship between material and temperature changes.

2. The environment is the main factor affecting liquid sound speed

The significant variation in liquid sound speed is primarily due to environmental factors. The complexity of chemical reactions affects the change in composition ratios, sedimentation causing stratification, and environmental pressure are all factors that must be considered in calculations. The primary use of chemical substances is for reactions, which produce by-products. The production of by-products changes the liquid concentration, affecting the sound speed of the liquid being measured. Thus, the sound speed of chemical substances is essentially in a state of constant change, and sound speed data can only serve as a reference.
