With its clear understanding of on-site managerial pain points, LORRIC introduces two game-changing screen innovations.

After interviewing and associating with over a thousand flowmeter users, getting a deep insight into their on-site work environment, we discovered that on-site factory management, as a consequence of automation, requires on-site personnel to have a larger inspection range than before. That combined with a less than ideal line of sight inside the factory environment, all contribute to make on-site management difficult.

In order to increase on-site management efficiency, we believe that apart from the machinery’s sensing capabilities, screen redesign can be the other key to solving user pain points. After a thorough analysis of environmental characteristics as well as user behavior, we started with a much needed optimization – immediate on-site flow and status observation. That together with the user interface being the other focus of enhancement, LORRIC introduces the following two major screen design improvement concepts:

V-Hybrid Vertical Double Screen (Currently in the process of filing for a patent trademark in the whole world)

A screen’s main functions are numerical observation and other related settings display – a reliable screen has the capabilities to clearly transmit information as the user requires it, such as on-site flow monitoring as well as other equipment parameters and function settings. When it comes to monitoring equipment, making the most of the screen’s display capabilities is a cornerstone of on-site management.

Upon reflecting on the two major screen requirements listed below, we came up with our new Double Parallel LED/LCD Screens concept – utilizing two screens of different properties, combining their strengths to overcome each screen’s shortcomings, all for the goal of substantially improving on-site management and observation.

◉ Bright LED for numerical flow observation.

LED’s brightness is best suited for long-distance monitoring. Because of limited display space – numbers are better suited than words: in LORRIC’s design philosophy, consideration of the on-scene pain points users encounter is of main importance, thus we chose to line up a large LED screen to display mostly numerical data for flow monitoring. This allows the users standing further away to at any point clearly observe the immediate flow status without the need to get closer.

◉ LCD screen is best suited for the display of more complex text-based details

Electronic sensory equipment’s initial setup often has a decisive impact on flow monitoring outcome further down the line, what stresses the importance of installation ease. Software interface, screen clarity, and button design are all contributing factors to a superior pre-usage installation experience – especially as such equipment often employs small cramped places for installation. Secondly, in order to adapt the system to different languages used in different work environments, the LCD screen is adept at displaying more complex detailed characters (such as of Chinese, Arabic, Thai etc.). Users of different languages will be able to clearly read the settings, and thus quickly and correctly perform setup and set equipment preferences.

LCD screen is best suited for the display of more complex text-based details

The LCD screen can display three rows of letters, and each of the rows can be defined differently under the setting modes. Basically, the three rows can approximately be defined to display the following kinds of information:

➤ The first row – Current screen status

➤ The second row – Immediate data

➤ The Third row – Displays four different function buttons, each button has different setting modes for different function definitions. Even if equipment settings need to be changed only once in a long time, this row’s display makes usage easy and spares the need to look for the manual.

Three-colored large indicator lights

Generally speaking, as on-site managers need to deal with the many detailed requirements of factory management, often needing to move to all corners of the factory space, and on top of that accompanied by other monitoring-related requirements, indicator lights serve as a primary, any-time any-where form of status monitoring tool. The indicator lights’ bright luminosity embodies the key design thought behind the solving of on-site managerial pain points.

◉ The integration of screen and indicator lights

Electronic monitoring equipment generally needs to be adapted to possible on-site space limitations, and the equipment amount needs to be restricted within a certain threshold, thus the space that can be allocated for the screen and indicator lights is limited. However, holding onto the ideal of not willing to sacrifice screen and indicator lights size, LORRIC combined the screen and indicator lights into a single unit, what allows maximal possible space to be allocated for both – an industry first and currently only such design in the market, all for the purpose of satisfying on-site manager’s requirement of high-efficiency monitoring. In addition, regarding the aforementioned LED/LCD double screen, the LED screen part fulfills the requirement of long-distance observation, designed to provide a bright data monitoring function, thus the three-colored large indicator lights are set-up along with the LED screen as a single unit. During the process of exploring and developing backlight colors, we managed to come up with the green-red-orange three-colored indicator lights. The integration of these three-colored large indicator lights together with the bright LED digital display, allows the user to at any time, even from far away or in dim environments, properly monitor on-site happenings without the need to deliberately get closer to the equipment.

◉ The monitor lights’ color definitions

Green, orange and red indicator light color definitions: Red – Major abnormality; Green – Normal operation; Orange – Non-urgent data display. This system’s big advantage is that no matter how far the user stands from the screen, the changing indicator light’s colors can clearly indicate the status of the equipment and whether any abnormality occurs.
